Favorite Running cource ~ Alviso (San Francisco Bay Area)

Alviso Marina County Park

Time Lapse after running

I got stress fracture on my left leg last April.  After that, my training has been in a gym with "non-impact" exercise.  I have not run outside for a long time.  I resumed outside running starting June.  Last weekend, I finally run one and half hour in Alviso Marina County Park.

This is a nice running course for recovery, the course is flat, non paved surface, no cars, nice view and so on.   I really want to share this course to everybody.

Access

This is the south end of San Francisco Bay, named Alviso.   From CA-237, either taking Great America / Gold Street or North First String exit toward north.   At the end of the load, there is a small parking lots and restrooms.

Course profile

Elevation gain is almost 0 and basically really flat course.
The course is a loop which is about 9 mils (14km+)

This is really nice area, but it is not very crowded most of time.

Elevation profile

Since this course is along San Francisco Bay, there might be some wind and it helps to cool down while people are running.   There might be a few concerns, there is no shade at all.  Also, it will be muddy after raining.   So that it is probably good condition in summer time, since summer time in San Francisco Bay area is basically dry, very little rain.  However it might not be a good idea to run there after raining.  Once the trail get wet, it will be really muddy and it won't be a good for running.  If people plan to run in winter time, it is better to make sure it is not right after raining.

I think there might be very few people to run the loop.  Most of people do the loop with bike.

Water

There is no point to get water.  So I would suggest to carry a small water bottle when people run the loop, especially a hot day in summer.

This is a nice flat course along the bay.  There is no car and traffic light at all.  It is very good course to do LSD (Long Slow Distance) running.

Nice view to Mission Peak!
